Poor little guy
Just got back from the dr's and they said his lungs and ears are pretty clear, it's just that his airway and throat are REALLY irritated and probably hurt a ton. That's why he hasn't been eating . . . he only had a total of 12oz of formula ALL DAY yesterday and only 6 today so far . . . dr said that it's probably really hurting to swallow and since he can't tell us that, he just cries more. We'll start the amox drops in just a minute and get him feeling better. But since he's finally asleep right now wild horses stampeding couldn't make me wake him to give him the meds. I think I'll wait until he wakes up.
On a happy note, he's up to 15lbs, 12oz today. And only 3mos old. Our little ham!

1997
1. Who was your best friend? Kris and Annie and D'Et
2. What kind of car did you drive? My parents' 1986 Ford Tempo, incidently the only one of the ones we know of personally that didn't catch fire. Long story.
3. It's Friday night...where are you? Working at Subway - the first 3 months of senior year - or driving around town in Annie's Chevy Maverick - loved that beast of a car.
4. Were you a party animal? No because Kris's dad was the Justice of the Peace and my dad made weekly visits to chat with him and I didn't want to risk the wrath.
5. Were you considered a flirt? not senior year
7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? Choir
8. Were you a nerd? I could never be confused with anyone who loves learning. If it's not something I'm interested in, I leave it strictly alone. Not into "knowledge for knowledge's sake."
9. Did you get suspended/expelled? Not since 7th grade. Another long story.
10. Can you sing the fight song? Yep because I was a cheerleader and not only that but I was the mascot. And it's pronounced Ky-yote, not Ky-yo-tee. That means you, Kev.
11. Who were your favorite teachers? Rasmussen, Abbott
12. Where did you sit during lunch? At the lunch table with the cool kids (well, my whole class, really. The senior class was the "cool kids" every year.) for about 5 minutes to eat ranch and soda crackers then outside on the front steps with whoever was out there.
13. What was your school's full name? Chester Public School
14. School mascot? Me. I mean, Coyotes
15. Did you go to Prom? Yes, with my 3-day romance guy from winter camp.
16. If you could go back and do it again, would you? Definitely. I loved high school.
17. What do you remember most about graduation? Seriously, the fact that it was understood that you buy gifts or everyone in the class, guys and girls. Good thing there was only 17 of us total.
18. Where did you go senior skip day? I think we couldn't because classes before us ruined it
19. Were you in any clubs? C club, because I lettered in Basketball sophomore year - for being manager! Pathetic, right? Then I lettered in music Junior year - made it actually count.
20. Where did you go most often for lunch? We only got 25 minutes for lunch so we all ate at school mostly.
21. Have you gained some weight since then? Oh, shut up!
22. Who was your Senior prom date? As mentioned before, my 3-day romance guy from winter camp. I didn't want to go with any guys from town because I knew they'd be plastered by the time they got to the dance so I asked a guy from another town. He wanted to date exclusively but I was headed for college in CA and wasn't going to be tied down.
23. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? No, it's this year and I don't think anyone has planned anything. Usually they do an All-School Reunion every few years so we'll see then.
24. Who was your home room teacher? Didn't have one.
25. Who will repost this? whoever wants to
26. Do you still talk to people from high school? Some. I got reaquainted with some recently so we've been emailing and stuff lately.

yeah for us!

We bought the materials on eBay for way cheaper than the infomercial . . . speaking of, when you are up twice a nite feeding a newborn and most of your cable channels cut out at midnight and the only thing left to watch is the TV Guide scrolling channel, you see all sorts of things for sale. Anyway, we decided that we both needed to do it so we got the stuff. It's not a fad diet like we were first worried . . . actually it's a complete change in diet and eating habits. For instance, for my body type and weight history (all the way back to high school, etc.) I should be eating 6 times a day, but in regulated portions . . . not just free-for-all. I get protein and fruits at certain times and protien, fruit, and carbs at other times. Most importantly, you are not allowed to skip meals . . . you MUST eat the midmorning and midafternoon snacks as well as the regularly scheduled B, L, D. And you get an evening snack if you want it. And the portion sizes are the size that we are supposed to be consuming . . . I get 3oz of protein and 1/2 cup fruit for breakfast and midmorning snack, 3oz protein, 3/4 cup carbs and 1/2 cup veggie for lunch, 3oz protein and 3/4 cup carbs for midafternoon snack and the same as lunch for supper. Sounds bad, right? Well, 3/4 cup carbs is about a medium potato and 3oz protein is about as big as my fist and really we can have all the veggies and fruit (specific ones) that we want. Funny thing is that we have been getting full eating like this even tho it's sooooo different than what we did before.
In the 4 weeks I've lost 10lbs . . . would be more if I really liked the excercising but I'm holding my own . . . and Kev's lost 14lbs. Not too bad considering he was sick with a cold for a week in there and didn't excercise at all. But beyond the number is the fact that our clothes are fitting better these days and we feel better health-wise. And we are determined not to go back to our bad eating habits once we've reached our goals . . . it'll help make sure the kids are eating correctly, too. We still splurge one meal a week when we go out to Sunday lunch with my parents after church, but overall we stick to the plan.
The only complaint Kev has is that with both of our body types we are no longer allowed to eat red meat or pork. Red meat takes too long for us to metabolize and doesn't process correctly for us. So it's all turkey and chicken breast . . . and yes, turkey burger tastes exactly the same as ground beef when it's in something . . . wouldn't you all like to know what I've brought to homegroup or fed you while visiting that wasn't really beef?!?! Hee Hee. Kev says that he'll still sneak in a steak from time to time but I'm sneaking Dr. Pepper so I can't really rag him for it.
So, if you see us at church discreetly eating sliced deli turkey and bananas in the nursery, now you know what we're up to.

National Blog Posting Month
Funny tho, this post actually begins with a photo of Josiah:
So, I think one of the funniest things in the whole wide world is the sneeze. Think about it . . . everyone sneezes . . . from the smallest baby to the most sophisticated grown-up . . . and there's nothing you can do about it. You lose complete control of your face and sometimes saliva, you have to completely stop talking, the urge overtakes you. It is said that it's physically impossible for you to sneeze with your eyes open . . . that if you could your eyes would pop out of your head . . . I'm sure there are those who have tried and you don't really hear about eyes popping out of heads that often . . . so I don't know if I believe that part.
One of our family's favorite actors-of-yore, Red Skelton, did a whole bit about sneezes. Here's two of my favorites:
The candy bar sneeze: HEEERRRSHEEEYYY
The Inquisitive sneeze: WHOOOO'SSSSHE???
The rest you have to see his face to do it but the Truckdriver's sneeze blows his shoes off. Really funny. Another of my favorite actors is Dick Van Dyke. That's another post for another time but he also did a bit about a sneeze that took almost 5 minutes to manifest itself and ran him all over the house looking for a kleenex.
Hooray for the sneeze! May it continue to bring me hours of laughter!
Edited to add: As soon as I got this posted and got up, I was attacked by a Vesuvius-sized sneeze that made Josiah cry. Go sneezes!

happy halloween!

And yes, I got Kev to dress up, too. And boy, did I get in trouble for bringing that Broncos jersey into the house! "This is a Niners house only! What are you thinking!" Which was exactly the reaction I was expecting, but since you can't get any other teams here it had to do. We met up with our friends at Barb's then went out for candy.
The girls . . . Larry and Cinderella:
The boys . . . Bob and a CUUUTE monkey:
The boys were born 3 days apart, Josiah on a Thurs and Ethan on Sunday. So far they haven't really paid much attention to each other but they did look each other in the eye last week.
Anyway, then we went out to get the candy.

And by then, Bob was done.
Hope yours was fun, too!

3 months old
So, I didn't get this on here for the actual day but Josiah is now 3 months old. Time is flying! I was looking thru some old pix of me and my sister from forever ago . . . I was 3.5 and she was 2 months old . . . and found this photo of us together:
Now, compare that to these photos of Josiah taken yesterday:

Both Kev and I were stricken . . . he sure looks a lot like her. We noticed right away when he came out that he has her ears . . . small and close to his head . . . she even has to tear off half of a Q-tip before she can clean her ears, they're so small . . . but they even make the same faces! Ahh, genetics!
In other news:
1. I came into the front room the other day and found this:

What is it about the kids always liking the box more than the toy that comes in it? She kept whispering, "You can't find me, Mom!"
2. I finished this for a baby shower this last weekend:

It's called a Raggie Quilt. My mom and Kev both thought that the seam side should be on the inside but I had to explain that it's supposed to look like this. Didn't really take all that long to do, either, if you don't count the thousands of distractions that come up with a baby and a preschooler. My first attempt at a quilt! Maybe I'll make one for Josiah for Christmas. Not sure yet. The good thing is that he'll still be little enough that he won't have any idea what he gets for Christmas . . . he'll probably want the boxes more than the toys, too!
3. Starting the Christmas gifts this week. I have some fantastic ideas for different things that I wish I could post on here but I'll wait until after the holidays so the surprises aren't spoiled. Gotta say, tho, they're gonna be fun!
4. Also doing our Christmas card this week so it can get to the printer's in time to send out. I'm not doing a letter with it, tho . . . I figure people can find out what we've been doing by reading the blog. It's more interesting reading about things when they happen instead of a recap anyway.
Better get on it.
